Bonjela Soothing Teething Gel Information
How does Bonjela Soothing Teething Gel work?
Bonjela Soothing Teething Gel contains active ingredients that quickly ease teething irritation including swelling and pain inside of the mouth and on the surface of the gums. Ideal for sensitive gums, this teething gel provides effective relief for children over 6 months of age.
How do I know if a baby is teething?
Infants usually start teething between 4 and 6 months of age, but may begin a little before or after this time. Teething is the stage at which milk teeth begin to emerge by pushing through gums, and this can be a painful process.
The most painful parts are when teeth are just about to break through the gums, and each instance may last a few days. The following teething symptoms are common:
- Red or sore gums
- More dribbling than is usual
- A raised desire to chew on things
- Additional fussiness or irritability
- A mild temperature of 38C
- Trouble falling asleep
Baby Bonjela is an effective solution for improving the above symptoms related to oral discomfort during teething.
Alternative teething treatments
Aside from using teething gels, there are various alternative treatments that you can try to relieve teething pain for your child. Everyone is different, so you may need to try several different remedies before you find an effective option. Consider the following for your child:
- Giving them teething rings
- Offering them foods such as melon pieces or breadsticks
- Cleaning their face more often to help avoid a rash
How do I apply Bonjela for babies?
Bonjela Soothing Teething Gel is designed for oral use, being applied topically to the mouth and gums. Be sure to check that the cap seal is unbroken before use and wash your hands to make the application as hygienic as possible. Use a clean fingertip to apply a pea-sized amount of gel onto the sore area and gently massage so the formula can begin reducing inflammation.
How often should I apply baby Bonjela gel?
The gel should be applied no more than once every 3 hours. Do not exceed more than 6 applications within 24 hours. If there is no improvement after 7 days, consult your doctor for professional medical advice.
What are the possible side effects of using the gel?

- Shortness of breath
