How do I apply Bonjela Junior Gel?

Bonjela for kids should be applied directly onto the area of discomfort in the mouth or on the gums. If the child is too young to do this properly, an adult must do it for them. Be sure to check that the cap seal is unbroken before use and ensure that the person applying the gel has clean hands before starting. If it isn’t convenient to apply the gel with a clean fingertip, it’s also fine to use a clean swap.

How often should I apply Bonjela Adult treatment?

Bonjela for kids can be reapplied after 20 minutes and every three hours after that. If a dose is missed, simply follow up with a new dose following the instructions provided. Do not exceed the recommended dosage. Symptoms should improve within a few days of using the gel. If there’s little to no improvement after 7 days, see a doctor or dentist.

Can the gel be used to treat teething babies?

Bonjela Junior gel is not suitable for the treatment of teething in children. You should seek alternative products for effective pain relief in this area, such as Bonjela Soothing Teething Gel.

What are the possible side effects of using the gel?

Children’s Bonjela doesn’t usually cause any side effects, but with all medication, there is a small risk. Look out for the following symptoms:

• A change in skin colour including bluish tones
• Shortness of breath
• Headaches
• Lack of energy
• Skin rashes or irritation

If you get any of the above side effects, stop using the product and talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse. This includes experiencing any possible side effects not listed.

Bonjela Junior Gel ingredients

The active ingredients of Bonjela Junior Gel are as follows:

• Cetylpyridinium chloride 0.025% w/w

Additionally, the formula contains a small amount of ethanol (alcohol), glycerol, fragrance containing allergens (Eugenol) in banana flavour, sodium saccharin, carbomer, triethanolamine, and water.

Who can use Bonjela Junior Gel?

This treatment is intended for children over 5 months old or adults of any ages.

You should avoid using the products if the following applies:

• You’re treating a child who’s under 5 months old or/or teething.
• You or your child are allergic to lidocaine, cetylpyridinium chloride or any of the other ingredients.
• You or your child are allergic to other local anaesthetics.
• You are taking other medication used to treat high blood pressure (propranolol), stomach conditions (cimetidine) or water-retention (diuretics).
• You or your child suffer from heart or liver problems.
