How do I apply Germolene Wound Care Cream?

Germolene should only be applied on skin with minor skin damage. If you have open wounds, severe burns or signs of skin infection, do not use this product.

This cream is designed for external use only. Following the below steps for safe application:

1. Before using the product for the first time, check that the tube seal is not broken.
2. Pierce the tube seal by inverting the cap over the end of the tube and pressing.
3. Thoroughly clean the affected area of skin with warm water (do not use soap).
4. Apply the Wound Care Cream once or several times daily as required. Wounds may be covered with a dressing after treatment if desired.
5. Replace the cap firmly after use. If your skin doesn’t improve, tell your doctor.

Germolene features a gentle antiseptic formula to help prevent infection, making it gentle enough for use on small abrasions, cuts, scratches, burns, bites, and stings.

What are the possible side effects?

Although side effects are rare, everyone reacts differently to medication and it’s possible to experience the following symptoms:

• Breathing difficulties and dizziness caused by a serious allergic reaction.
• Skin reactions include burning, new rashes, itching and irritation.

If you experience difficulty breathing, you must seek emergency medical attention as soon as possible. If you have any other concerns surrounding skin irritation or symptoms not listed above, stop using the cream and consult a GP, pharmacist or medical expert.

The active substance is this wound cream is chlorhexidine dihydrochloride 0.5% w/w. Other ingredients include dexpanthenol, DL-lactone, cetyl alcohol, stearyl alcohol, white soft paraffin, liquid paraffin, wool fat (lanolin), macrogol stearate and purified water.
