Azyter 15 mg/g Eye Drops information

  • What is Azyter (Azithromycin)?

Azyter can be used to treat eye infections caused by bacterial conjunctivitis or eyelid infections (Blepharitis). The treatment contains an antibiotic that quickly kills bacteria in the eye.

Using just one drop twice daily for as little as 3 days can clear up the infection directly at the source leaving your eyes feeling healthy and nourished.

What are Azyter (Azithromycin) eye drops used for?

Azyter is an antibiotic used to treat eye and eyelid infections called conjunctivitis and blepharitis.

Bacterial conjunctivitis is caused by bacteria getting into the eye or eyes. This can result in them becoming bloodshot, feeling like they are burning or feeling gritty. You may notice your eyes produce pus that sticks to lashes and that they are itchy and watery.

Conjunctivitis is a fairly common condition and in some cases can clear up without the need for any treatment. However, for some people, using Azyter can be very effective and noticeably improve the condition of their eyes within just a few days.

As Azyter is an antibiotic it is not suitable for treating eye infections that are not caused by bacteria - for example, viral eye infections.

    How does Azyter (Azithromycin) work?

Azyter is an antibiotic. When the drops are applied directly to the eye it targets the bacteria that is present there.

Azithromycin is from a group of medicines called macrolide antibiotics. Macrolide antibiotics work by killing the bacteria that cause the infection.

How long should I use Azyter eye drops?

You can use Azithromycin eye drops for 3 days. Long treatment does not improve the condition. If you have not noticed any improvement after this time you will need to see a doctor in person as they may wish to review your eye condition with a special tool called a slit lamp.
