Exorex Lotion Information
What is Exorex Lotion?
Exorex Lotion helps you take back control of your skin. It is a coal tar cutaneous emulsion that when used as part of your daily skincare regime helps to soothe itching and reduce inflammation of the skin. It effectively treats mild to moderate flare-ups of psoriasis providing antimicrobial protection while also helping to soften thickened, scaly patches of skin.
Exorex Lotion is available as a 100 ml bottle and is manufactured by Teva UK. It can be safely used by people of all ages to treat areas of psoriasis on the body and scalp and has been clinically proven to also reduce symptoms of eczema and dermatitis.
What is Exorex Lotion used for?
Exorex Lotion is used to prevent itching and reduce thickened, flaking or scaling skin during a flare-up of psoriasis on the body and scalp. It can also be used to help ease symptoms of eczema and other dry skin conditions.
What is psoriasis?
Psoriasis is a dry skin condition caused by an auto-immune response that affects people of any age. It leads to patches of skin, normally the elbows, knees, scalp or lower back, to become red, flaky and crusty that may be covered with silvery scales.
These dry, scaly skin patches produced by psoriasis flare-ups are caused by an overproduction of skin cells that then build-up. Some people will only experience very mild psoriasis, while others will develop the condition much more severely. It is not a harmful condition but it can cause some people to feel self-conscious or embarrassed.
If you are unsure whether you are suffering from psoriasis or another dry skin condition, it is recommended that you consult with a doctor or pharmacist before using any treatment
How does Exorex Lotion work?
The active ingredient in Exorex Lotion is 5% coal tar solution. Coal tar works as a keratoplastic, which means it relieves itching, inflammation and scaling by breaking down the keratin in the skin causing the top layer of dead skin cells to shed and slows down the growth of new skin cells.
Exorex Lotion also helps to speed up the recovery of the affected patches of skin and has antimicrobial properties that protect your skin against harmful bacteria. It contains vitamin F that encourages the restoration of the skin assisting in the quick repair of the protective skin barrier.
How quickly does Exorex Work?
Because not all psoriasis sufferers experience flare-ups in the same way some people may notice their skin looking and feeling healthier in a matter of a few weeks, however, for some people these improvements may take a little bit longer.
