Movelat Cream information
What is Movelat Cream and what is it used for?
Movelat is a medicated cream containing the active ingredients mucopolysaccharide polysulfate (MPS) (0.2%) and salicylic acid (2.0). This cream relieves pain and can be prescribed for the following reasons:
- Relieving inflammation and pain in strains and sprains
- Relieving muscle stiffness and pain
- Relieving inflammation and pain in non-serious arthritic conditions and also in cases of rheumatic pain.
Movelat gets to work beneath the surface of the skin because it combines the two active ingredients which makes penetration of the outer layer of the skin much easier. The MPS, an anti-inflammatory and salicylic acid, the absorption enhancer, work together, the salicylic acid softening the skin and the MPS being absorbed, to work more closely on the affected areas.
Movelat cream is manufactured by Genus Pharmaceuticals and is available on prescription for adults and children over the age of 12 years. This cream should be applied to the skin surrounding the affected areas up to 4 times daily.
How does Movelat Cream work?
Movelat Cream contains two active ingredients mucopolysaccharide polysulfate (MPS) and salicylic acid. As an anti-inflammatory, as well as a pain-relieving medicine, MPS works by reducing the production of leukotriene and prostaglandins, natural inflammatory substances produced by the body in response to injury and also certain diseases. These substances cause pain, swelling and inflammation and when MPS is applied to the affected areas, it reduces the pain.
Salicylic acid enhances the MPS’ ability to penetrate the skin, by breaking down the protein, keratin, a part of the skin structure. By loosening the outer layer of skin, the loosened skin is shed and the way of entry for the cream or gel is much easier.

Movelat Cream FAQs
Movelat’s unique formula helps it direct itself to the where it is needed and so quickly relieves pain.
There is less of a risk with side-effects, as the unique formula of movelat allows it to go to the point it is needed, rather than circulate in the body, which is often the case with other painkillers.
MPS stands for Mucopolysaccharide Polysulfate. This is the anti-inflammatory and analgesic component in this medication.
In movelat, the combination of its two active ingredients means that the anti-inflammatory works quicker than others, as it goes straight to the area of concern to give that much needed pain relief.
