Corsodyl Dental Gel Information

  • What is Corsodyl Dental Gel & how does it work?

Corsodyl Dental Gel works to both prevent and treat potential oral health problems such as plaque build-up, tooth decay, and gum disease. Corsodyl works by targeting problem areas directly, without leaving a bad taste in your mouth. It also aids in your gums’ natural healing, helping you to manage oral thrush and mouth ulcers, and promote a healthier mouth.

The active ingredient in Corsodyl Dental gel is known as chlorhexidine, which acts as an antiseptic agent and helps to disinfect the mouth.

What is Corsodyl Dental Gel used for?

Chlorhexidine works directly against specific bacteria, viruses, and fungi that can cause your mouth all sorts of problems. It will attack dangerous micro-organisms that can potentially cause throat infections, as well as other common mouth conditions. One micro-organism of note is the Candida Albicans fungi, which is the source of oral thrush infections.

Chlorhexidine has been proven to protect your teeth against the build-up of plaque, lowering your risk of gum inflammation and increasing your overall gum hygiene.

Corsodyl Dental Gel can be used to:

    • Help to prevent plaque build-up on your teeth.
    • Prevent and treats gingivitis (gum disease).
    • Protect against tooth decay in high-risk individuals) people with a dry mouth or xerostomia (malfunctioning saliva glands).
    • Promote natural gum healing.
    • Help to manage mouth ulcers (aphthous ulcers).
    • Help to manage oral thrush (candidosis).

You should use Corsodyl dental gel either once or twice a day. Apply the gel to your toothbrush and scrub for around a minute. The brushing works to clean your mouth mechanically, while the gel will help to kill any dangerous micro-organisms throughout the mouth, improving your overall oral hygiene. If using Corsodyl for oral thrush or mouth ulcers then apply the gel directly onto the problem areas either once or twice a day.

    Pharmacist Tip

If you don’t take care of your mouth and have poor oral hygiene then hardened deposits of tartar will build up along the gum lining. Over time these deposits become harder, making them more difficult to deal with.

Corsodyl Dental Gel contains Chlorhexidine which works to disinfect your mouth, encourage your gum's natural healing processes, and defend your teeth against plaque build-up and decay.

Always read the instructions carefully and never use more than is recommended. Children under 12 should not use Corsodyl dental gel without first consulting a dentist. Always use Corsodyl dental gel on its own – do not mix it with other toothpaste as they can inhibit Corsodyl from working properly.

To prevent or treat gum disease brush your teeth thoroughly with approximately 2cm of Corsodyl Dental Gel once or twice a day.

To treat oral thrush or ulcers apply Corsodyl Dental Gel directly to problem areas, either once or twice a day with a clean finger or cotton swab.

To treat denture sores, apply Corsodyl Dental Gel directly over your denture fittings and place in your mouth as usual. Rinse and soak your dentures in special Corsodyl mouthwash twice a day for at least 15 minutes.

Use approximately 2-3cm of Corsodyl Dental gel with a toothbrush once or twice a day.

Corsodyl Dental Gel is recommended for anyone suffering from gingivitis and other oral conditions such as fungal infections and mouth ulcers.

This product should not be used by anyone under 12 years of age without consulting a doctor.
